Amphiprion polymnus, also known as the saddleback clownfish, is a unique and robust species, similar in shape to the Amphiprion ocellaris, but featuring a black body with wide white bands. One of these bands, located behind the head, resembles a saddle, hence its common name.
The coloration of this fish varies depending on its location: some have a very dark, almost black body, while others have a dark brown hue. What remains constant is its strong presence and attachment to a defined territory, especially when it is paired and in the presence of a host.
The saddleback clownfish lives in symbiosis with an anemone, which it defends and uses as shelter. In the absence of an anemone, it can also settle in a colony of Rhodactis or on a head of Euphyllia, with which it can develop a very stable substitute relationship.
Easy to feed, Amphiprion polymnus quickly accepts inert food.
Amphiprion polymnus is a distinctive and elegant clownfish, ideal for those who want a natural symbiotic behavior and a strong presence in their reef tank. Its dark body and white patterns make it an aesthetic and original choice for clownfish enthusiasts.
