Chrysiptera cyanea Male – Dominant Blue Damselfish
Chrysiptera cyanea male is the dominant form of the famous blue damselfish. This specimen stands out with an even more intense and uniform electric blue, sometimes with purple hues depending on the lighting in the tank. It also displays a more assertive behavior, especially in the presence of other damselfish.
Behavior and Hierarchy
As with other Chrysiptera, the male evolves in a structured group behavior. It is recommended to form a school of at least 5 individuals to establish a stable hierarchy. The male will occupy the dominant position, regulating interactions and defending a small territory within the rocky decor.
Although more territorial than the female, it remains compatible with a community reef, provided the tank is well-arranged with plenty of hiding places and retreat zones.
Maintenance Conditions
