Chrysiptera parasema – Golden Tail Damselfish Bred by RecifAtHome

Origin and Breeding RecifAtHome

The Chrysiptera parasema offered here are bred in France by RecifAtHome. Born and raised directly in our facilities, they are accustomed from a young age to marine aquarium conditions. Their controlled growth and gradual adaptation ensure a simple and reliable integration for aquarists.

Species Description

The Chrysiptera parasema is a very popular marine damselfish, recognizable by its intense blue body and bright yellow tail. This stark contrast makes it an ideal decorative fish for reef aquariums. Its behavior remains territorial, but individuals born in captivity generally exhibit a more stable hierarchy and less aggressive interactions than those from the wild.

Behavior and Group Living

The Chrysiptera parasema naturally thrives in groups, and having at least five individuals allows for better distribution of territoriality. The species is protogynous hermaphrodite: a female can become male in the absence of a dominant one. A rocky decor, rich in retreat areas, greatly facilitates social balance.

Recommended Maintenance Conditions

Minimum volume of 200 liters, temperature between 22 and 26 °C, rocky decor, protected areas, territorial yet lively and structured behavior.

Feeding

Feeding is simple and varied. Used from birth to consuming pellets and micro-prey, the captive-bred Chrysiptera parasema from RecifAtHome immediately accept:

  • Marine pellets suitable for omnivores
  • Artemia and mysis
  • Vegetable supplements such as spirulina and nori.

Commitment RecifAtHome

The captive-bred specimens from RecifAtHome exhibit immediate acclimatization, enhanced robustness, and superior behavioral stability. Their production also helps reduce wild collection, promoting a more sustainable and respectful approach to reef ecosystems.
