DVH AquaChar is a natural alternative to activated carbon, developed to improve water clarity and offer a large surface area for beneficial bacteria colonization. This media can be used in freshwater, brackish, and marine aquariums. It is available in a 2000 ml format.
| Type | Natural filtration media |
| Capacity | 2000 ml |
| Usage | Freshwater, brackish, and marine aquariums |
| Main Action | Water clarification and bacterial support |
| Specific Surface Area Announced | 32 m² per gram |
| Usage Duration | 3 to 6 months depending on biological load |
AquaChar is naturally porous and negatively charged, which promotes the attraction of fine organic particles responsible for water clarity issues. Once colonized by beneficial bacteria, it helps stabilize ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates. The manufacturer also indicates a pH stabilization between 7.5 and 7.7 in freshwater, and between 8.1 and 8.4 in seawater.
Use 250 ml for 200 liters of water. Place new AquaChar in a filtration bag and rinse thoroughly before use. The media typically lasts 3 to 6 months depending on the biological load. When its effectiveness decreases, remove about three-quarters of the media in place and replenish with new media to maintain an active bacterial population.
