The honey gourami Trichogaster chuna, also known as Colisa chuna or Colisa sota, is a small Asian fish with a honey color. Not exceeding 6 cm, this fish is equipped with a respiratory organ called a labyrinth, which allows it to pump the oxygen it needs. While the male is rather brown-orange, even yellow in some cases, the female tends to have more silvery scales, with blue reflections. This specimen lives either in pairs or in groups in marshes and small streams. Oviparous, it builds bubble nests. Its diet corresponds to that of an omnivore.
For aquarium maintenance, a pH close to 7 and a temperature between 22° and 28° are perfectly suitable. It is preferable to have at least 2 individuals to start a tank with this species. Moreover, the tank should contain at least 60 liters. Relatively timid, the honey gourami does not appreciate cohabitation with very territorial or physically imposing species. Be careful with the specimens you choose to associate it with.
