Description
The Hanna Seawater Alkalinity Checker ® is a good compromise between choosing simple chemical test kits and professional-quality instrumentation. Chemical test kits have limited accuracy and resolution because they are based on distinguishing color differences perceived by the human eye.
Professional quality instrumentation includes a light source composed of a LED or a tungsten lamp with a filter and a light detector to accurately determine the absorbance and concentration of ions. Professional tools offer superior resolution and precision but can cost hundreds of euros.
The Hanna Seawater Alkalinity Checker ® measures alkalinity in parts per million (ppm) of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and uses a fixed-wavelength LED source and a silicon photoelectric cell to ensure the accuracy of professional instrumentation at the affordable price of a chemical test kit.
