Description

The Hanna Seawater Calcium Checker ® is a good compromise between the choice of simple chemical test kits and professional-quality instrumentation. Chemical test kits have limited accuracy and resolution because they are based on the distinction of color differences perceived by the human eye.

Professional quality instrumentation includes a light source composed of a LED or a tungsten lamp with a filter and a light detector to accurately determine the absorbance and concentration of ions.

Professional tools offer superior resolution and precision, but can cost hundreds of euros. The Checker ® Hanna for Calcium in Seawater uses a fixed-wavelength LED source and a silicon photoelectric cell to ensure professional instrumentation accuracy at the affordable price of a chemical test kit.

The HI758 Checker® HC (portable colorimeter) is a simple, accurate, and affordable tool for measuring calcium in seawater. Essential for the development of the calcium carbonate skeletons of coral reefs, calcium is a key element in marine waters.
