Description
The Hanna High Scale Phosphate Checker® represents a good compromise between the choice of simple chemical test kits and professional-quality instrumentation. Chemical test kits have limited accuracy and resolution because they are based on distinguishing color differences perceived by the human eye.
Professional quality instrumentation includes a light source composed of a LED or a tungsten lamp with a filter and a light detector to accurately determine the absorbance and concentration of ions.
Professional tools offer superior resolution and precision, but can cost hundreds of euros. The Checker ® Hanna For High Scale Phosphates, a fixed-wavelength LED light source and a silicon photoelectric cell are used to ensure the precision of professional instrumentation at the affordable price of a chemical test kit.
The Checker® HC (handheld colorimeter) HI717 is a simple, accurate, and affordable instrument for measuring phosphates. Phosphates are common food additives that enhance flavor and act as a buffering agent. They are important for the growth and development of roots of the plants, phosphates are also present in fertilizers.
However, high concentrations of phosphates are harmful to the environment; for this reason, phosphate levels must be controlled in natural and municipal water systems.
