Milwaukee MC122 pH Controller for Aquarium

The Milwaukee MC122 pH controller is a device designed to monitor and automatically adjust the pH of aquarium water. It helps maintain a stable pH through a continuous regulation system associated with a user-adjustable set point.

Measurement Accuracy

The MC122 offers an accuracy of ± 0.2 pH over an extended measurement range. The manual two-point calibration ensures reliable and consistent readings over time, essential for aquariums requiring strict stability of parameters.

Automation and Regulation

The controller operates within a regulation range of 5.5 to 9.5 pH. Alarms automatically activate when the measured value exceeds or falls below the defined set point, allowing for a quick and secure response.

Design and Display

The device features a large digital LCD screen providing a clear and immediate reading of pH values. The high and low set points are user-selectable to adapt to the specific needs of each aquarium.

Probe Use and Maintenance

The performance of a pH controller directly depends on the condition of the probe. The two sensitive elements are the glass detection bulb and the reference junction. Over time, the bulb naturally loses sensitivity, which is normal for all pH probes.

Electrode Storage

The probe must remain hydrated. Prolonged dry storage damages the sensitivity of the electrode and can cause junction blockage. It is recommended to use a storage solution or pH buffer solution. Storage in tap water or distilled water should be avoided.

The recommended method is to fill the protective cap with a storage solution, seal it tightly, and store the electrode in an upright position to minimize any risk of leakage.

Cleaning

Residues present in the sample can affect the sensitivity of the detection bulb and obstruct the junction, especially in the presence of organic matter. Regular soaking of the electrode in a suitable cleaning solution is recommended.

Calibration

The sensitivity of detection bulbs decreases over time. Therefore, regular calibration is necessary to maintain the accuracy of the controller. Calibration is also advised after cleaning or a long storage period.
