Genesis Rock Polyplab x2 – Ceramic Biological Filtration Support for Aquarium

Genesis Rock is an advanced biological filtration support designed to significantly increase the filtration capacity of a freshwater or marine aquarium. Made from a fully fired high-temperature ceramic compound, this media offers excellent mechanical stability and a lifespan of several years in an aquarium.

Each Genesis Rock block provides more than 23,000 square feet of internal bacterial surface, promoting the massive development of beneficial bacteria responsible for essential biological processes such as the transformation of ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates, as well as the reduction of phosphates and dissolved organic compounds.

Technical Features

Biological Filtration Power

Thanks to its highly porous internal structure, Genesis Rock allows for rapid and sustainable bacterial colonization. This architecture promotes the simultaneous development of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria depending on the chosen installation method, offering complete and stable biological filtration.

The use of Genesis Rock contributes to a measurable improvement in water quality, notably by reducing nitrates, phosphates, and dissolved organic compounds, even in aquariums with high biological load.

Biological Capacity and Sizing

Each Genesis Rock block can treat up to 1,325 L of water. Thus, the pack of 2 blocks provides a biological capacity suitable for an aquarium of up to 2,650 L, depending on the organic load and installation method.

In the case of heavily populated aquariums or those with a high bioload, adding additional blocks can further enhance the overall performance of the biological filtration system.

Preparation and Setup

Before installation, thoroughly rinse Genesis Rock with osmosis water or ideally with water from the aquarium. The zero leaching technology greatly limits the presence of dust, but a preliminary rinse is still recommended.

To optimize bacterial colonization, Genesis Rock can be pre-seeded in a container filled with aquarium water with the addition of a concentrated bacterial product. Let soak for at least 12 hours before installation. The soaking water can be discarded to avoid any resuspension of micro-particles.

Biological Usage Modes

Aerobic Mode: Place Genesis Rock in a highly oxygenated area to promote the elimination of ammonia and nitrites, with a moderate flow rate of about 150 L/h.

Anaerobic Mode: Install Genesis Rock in a low-flow and oxygen-poor area to optimize nitrate reduction, for example, under sand, in a low-circulation sump, or hidden in the decor.

Mixed Mode: Installation in a moderate flow area allows for the development of aerobic bacteria on the surface and anaerobic bacteria at the core of the support, offering optimal biological balance.

Installation Recommendations

Do not place Genesis Rock near equipment generating vibrations or friction, such as a skimmer, to avoid any mechanical deterioration of the support.

Genesis Rock is designed to stay in place permanently and does not require periodic replacement.
