Periclimenes pedersoni, also known as the Pederson shrimp, is a reef shrimp renowned for living in symbiosis with giant anemones such as Condylactis gigantea. Its translucent body is adorned with beautiful bluish highlights and vibrant patterns, making it a highly appreciated species in reef aquariums.
This shrimp takes refuge in the tentacles of giant anemones where it finds protection and food. In return, it offers a cleaning service to the fish that approach its host. It is common to observe up to 20 Periclimenes pedersoni shrimp in a single anemone, without conflict, as long as there is sufficient space.
A peaceful and social species, it can be kept in groups. It is compatible with most non-predatory fish and invertebrates. Coexistence with other cleaner shrimp is possible in sufficiently spacious aquariums.
Recommended minimum volume: 80 liters
Temperature: between 24°C and 27°C
Decor: mandatory presence of host anemones (Condylactis gigantea)
Water movement: moderate
This shrimp benefits from food remnants trapped by the anemone and parasites removed from fish. It also accepts brine shrimp, mysis, pieces of mussel or krill. Direct feeding near the anemone is recommended.
Add a touch of naturalness and symbiosis to your reef aquarium with Periclimenes pedersoni. With its blue highlights and unique behavior, it quickly becomes one of the most fascinating invertebrates to observe in a well-balanced reef tank.
