The corals and other invertebrates naturally consume the calcium present in seawater. While the ocean offers an inexhaustible amount of calcium, calcium concentrations and carbonate hardness gradually decrease in marine aquariums. To maintain an optimal balance and ensure coral growth, a regular and balanced supply of calcium is essential.

Natural seawater contains about 410 mg/l of calcium, a carbonate hardness (KH) of 6.5 °dH, and a pH of about 8.2. These three parameters interact to maintain calcium saturation, which is essential for coral calcification and the development of red calcareous algae. Tropic Marin Bio-Calcium simultaneously increases calcium and carbonate hardness while stabilizing the pH for optimal growth, thus creating ideal conditions for successful reef aquariums.

Ingredients

Calcium, bicarbonate, magnesium, potassium, and essential trace elements.

Application and Dosage

Calculate the total volume of your aquarium, then measure the need for calcium and carbonate hardness (KH). One level measuring spoon of Bio-Calcium per 100 liters of water increases the carbonate hardness by 1.5 °dH and the calcium content by 10 mg/l.

We recommend not exceeding a carbonate hardness of 9 °dH.

Maximum Dosage

The maximum daily dose is 2 measuring spoons per 100 liters of water.

Instructions

Distribute Tropic Marin Bio-Calcium directly over the water surface, in an area of strong flow, preferably in the filtration compartment. This prevents contact of undissolved crystals with the animals. Wait until the product is completely dissolved before adding the next dose.

If the mixing does not allow complete dissolution, we recommend using the liquid solutions Tropic Marin Original Balling or Tropic Marin Carbo-Calcium / Carbo-Calcium Powder as an alternative.
