Sabellastarte sp., commonly known as the fan worm, is distinguished by its magnificent red and yellow plume that filters suspended micro-particles in the water. Native to tropical reef areas, it serves as an excellent natural filter and a major decorative asset in any reef aquarium.
An active filter with vibrant colors
Thanks to its branchial plume, Sabellastarte sp. Red and Yellow captures microorganisms and suspended organic matter and ideally feeds on live phytoplankton. This behavior makes it a true passive cleaner that actively contributes to the biological stability of the tank.
This fan worm lives in a calcareous tube that it constructs and retracts into in case of danger. It may lose its plume due to stress or during transport, but it regrows quickly without any health consequences.
