Sabelle sp. Red, also known by the scientific name Sabellastarte magnifica, is a marine tube worm that captivates with its stunning bright red fan. This plume, as elegant as it is useful, allows this natural filter to capture organic micro-particles present in the water.
A Useful and Decorative Tube Worm
The Red Sabelle settles in a tube that it constructs itself, often hidden between rocks or in crevices of the décor. It extends its plume outside to feed on suspended particles and will particularly appreciate the addition of live phytoplankton to thrive.
Upon delivery, the sabella may occasionally be delivered outside of its tube. This is not a cause for concern: it will reform a new tube within a few days, once established in suitable conditions.
