UV & Ozone Sterilizer
UV Ozone Sterilizer for Marine Aquarium
UV sterilizers and ozone generators became popular in modern aquaristics starting from the 1980s–1990s, initially in professional installations and then in domestic reef aquariums. Inspired by industrial water treatment processes, these technologies aim to improve the clarity and sanitary quality of the aquarium.
The UV sterilizer works by exposing the water to ultraviolet radiation, which reduces bacterial load, limits unicellular algae, and helps control certain free-phase parasites. Ozone, injected in small quantities through a suitable skimmer, improves the oxidation of organic compounds and increases water transparency.
When used correctly, these devices enhance biological stability, protect sensitive populations, and optimize the visual quality of a demanding reef aquarium.
