Nickel

Nickel (Ni)

What to do when the level is too high?

Risks: bleaching and partial detachment of coral tissues, slowed growth, increased sensitivity to parasites.

Measures: gradually dilute through regular partial water changes, filter using appropriate media (activated carbon, anti-metal resins), identify and neutralize the source of nickel (optimal value: 4–5 µg/L, avoid >6 µg/L).

What to do when the level is too low?

Risks: slowed growth, poor formation of growth tips, low-contrast colors, regression starting from the basal disc.

Measures: add via Elementals Trace Ni (e.g., 17.2 mL distributed over 1 day with Balling Light), perform a partial water change to homogenize, monitor and adjust to 4–5 µg/L.
