Centropyge vroliki: An Elegant and Peaceful Angelfish for Your Reef

The Centropyge vroliki, also known as the Vrolik's angelfish, is a species of dwarf angelfish highly prized in marine aquaristics for its relatively calm temperament and great beauty. Its ovoid white body fades into deep black starting from the anal fin, creating an elegant contrast that immediately catches the eye.

This specimen is known to be one of the most peaceful of its family, although it sometimes exhibits tense intraspecific behavior. It is often observed in the wild in areas where it cohabits with the Centropyge flavissima and the Centropyge eibli, resulting in hybrids with unique colorations.

Maintenance Conditions for Centropyge vroliki

  • Minimum recommended volume: 200 liters
  • Temperature: between 23°C and 28°C
  • Origin: Indo-Pacific
  • Reef compatibility: good (some minor pecking on polyps, not harmful)

For the well-being of the Centropyge vroliki, it is important to provide it with a well-structured aquarium with many hiding places, mainly consisting of live rock. It appreciates being able to delineate its territory and retreat to safety when needed.

Diet and Behavior

The Centropyge vroliki is omnivorous with a tendency towards herbivory. A balanced diet is essential for its health and coloration:

  • Enriched Artemia,
  • Mysis, Krill, mussel meat,
  • Specific pellets for marine fish,
  • Regular supply of algae (Nori, spirulina...).

This fish is hardy and ideal for reef aquariums, particularly due to its calm temperament towards other species. It may occasionally peck slightly at some coral polyps, but this behavior remains marginal if it is properly fed.

An Elegant and Safe Addition to Your Reefs

With its refined hues and peaceful temperament, the Centropyge vroliki is perfect for aquarists seeking an aesthetic and non-aggressive dwarf angelfish. It is suitable for both reef tanks and community aquariums, provided its territorial needs are respected.
