ATI Essentials+ SPS Refill #2 Calcium for reef aquariums

Refill #2 Essentials SPS – Calcium Complex is a calcium solution intended to be used as part of ATI’s Essentials+ SPS method.

It helps maintain a stable calcium level in SPS-dominant saltwater aquariums, an essential condition for growth, the strength of the calcareous skeleton, and coral coloration.

Integration into the Essentials+ SPS method

Essentials+ is a liquid dosing system developed from the experience of more than 40,000 seawater analyses. It supplies the aquarium with all major elements, including calcium, carbonate hardness, and magnesium, in order to keep parameters within their optimal concentration range.

Refill #2 is used exclusively in addition to Refill #1, in accordance with the Essentials+ SPS method.

Formulation and stability

The calcium solution is formulated to be compatible with the inorganic carbonate sources used in the Essentials+ system. This design supports pH stability and limits ionic imbalances when used according to the recommendations.

Effects on reef corals

A controlled calcium supply promotes coral growth, coloration, and vitality, especially in reef aquariums that are heavily stocked with SPS corals.

Daily consumption

Organisms in the reef aquarium continuously consume dissolved calcium for their development. Consistent dosing is essential to maintain a stable environment.

It is recommended to measure the KH value every day at the same time, then adjust additions of the Essentials+ #1 and #2 solutions in order to maintain constant parameters.

Dosing principles

In most cases, Essentials+ #1 and #2 solutions are consumed in similar proportions. The dosage can be adjusted according to actual KH consumption.

If a change in calcium level is observed over time, the dosage of Refill #2 must be adjusted accordingly, based on the consumption measured in the aquarium.
