The Meiacanthus smithii is a small fish with an elongated body, white to light gray, crossed by a horizontal black band located near the dorsal fin. Its almost translucent caudal fin enhances its sleek appearance. Native to the coral reefs of Indonesia, this fish is known for its territorial but non-aggressive behavior, making it an excellent companion for community aquariums.
This blenny fish willingly takes refuge in cavities and rock crevices to observe its surroundings. It is equipped with venomous fangs used solely for defense. This ability makes it a deterrent to predators but completely harmless to humans and other tank species.

Omnivorous, it readily accepts commercial foods: pellets, brine shrimp, krill, as well as vegetable food as a supplement. It is very active during the day and will spend most of its time exploring the decor.
This fish can be kept alone or in a small group in large aquariums. It is compatible with most reef species, as long as they are not too aggressive or territorial.
