High-Intensity Lenses Ecotech Marine Radion XR30 G5/G6

The Ecotech Marine high-intensity lens kit is designed for Radion XR30 LED fixtures from the G5 and G6 generations. It helps focus more light to increase the available light intensity beneath the fixture.

Radion units come standard with wide-angle HEI optics. These standard optics promote broad aquarium coverage as well as even blending of the different light channels. The High Intensity Narrow Angle kit offers a different approach, with a narrower beam intended to maximize light intensity and penetration.

A narrower beam to increase light intensity

The Ecotech Marine high-intensity lenses produce a beam angle of approximately 80°, compared with about 120° for the lenses originally installed on compatible Radion fixtures.

This reduction in beam angle concentrates more of the light output onto a defined area. Depending on the setup and fixture placement, it can provide up to 65% additional maximum intensity compared with the standard lenses.

A solution suited to fixtures installed high above the aquarium

The high-intensity lens kit for Radion XR30 G5/G6 can be especially useful when the fixture is installed at a significant distance above the aquarium. The more concentrated beam reduces lateral spread and directs a greater portion of the light toward the area being illuminated.

This setup may also be suitable for aquariums that require better light penetration at depth or for installations where very wide spread is not necessary.

Improved light penetration in the aquarium

With their approximately 80° angle, Narrow Angle lenses concentrate the light to improve its effectiveness in the area beneath the fixture. They are intended for users looking to increase available PAR values or achieve better light penetration in the aquarium.

This modification can be particularly useful for targeted setups, deep aquariums, or arrangements where multiple fixtures are used with controlled overlap of the lighting zones.

Difference between standard lenses and high-intensity lenses

The wide-angle HEI optics installed as standard on the Radion are designed to maximize coverage and produce a uniform spectrum over a large area. They are suited to installations seeking broad spread and balanced light blending.

High-intensity lenses, on the other hand, prioritize concentration of the light output. Their 80° beam reduces overall coverage but increases maximum intensity in the illuminated area. They therefore offer a complementary solution that makes it possible to adapt a Radion XR30 G5 or G6 more precisely to the aquarium’s characteristics.

Installation tips

Before replacing the original lenses, it is recommended to consider the fixture height, aquarium depth, and total area to be illuminated. A narrower optic may create a more intense central zone and reduce lighting available on the sides.

After installation, checking the light distribution is recommended. A gradual adjustment of the Radion’s power may also be necessary to help the organisms in the aquarium adapt to the increased intensity.
