A spectacular LPS coral with shimmering polyps
The Galaxea astreata is a highly valued LPS coral for its fine, mobile polyps, which extend like a dense mane above its skeleton. It creates a captivating luminous and textured effect, even in size S.
A small size for a big visual impact
Despite its small size, the Galaxea astreata S offers a natural and constant movement in the aquarium. It is ideal for small spaces or as a dynamic touch in the heart of a larger reef. Caution: its long polyps can become stinging to nearby corals.
Ideal conditions for healthy growth
Lighting and water flow
A moderate to strong light (120–250 PAR) is recommended to enhance its colors and stimulate its extension. A moderate water flow will allow the polyps to deploy harmoniously while ensuring good oxygenation.
Water parameters
Like all LPS corals, the Galaxea astreata requires stable and well-balanced water:
- Temperature: 24–26°C
- Salinity: 35 ppt (1.025)
- pH: 8.0–8.4
- KH: 7–9 dKH
- Calcium: 400–450 ppm
- Magnesium: 1250–1350 ppm
- Nitrates: 2–10 mg/L
- Phosphates: 0.02–0.08 mg/L
