HI98319 HANNA seawater salinity tester

Description

The HI98319 is a digital salinity tester specifically designed for saltwater aquariums and displays results in parts per thousand (ppt), practical salinity units (PSU), or specific gravity (SG). This waterproof tester uses an amperometric conductivity probe to determine the salt content of the water. This robust tester displays readings and temperature on a large LCD screen.

Information

HANNA Instruments HI98319 is a salinity tester specifically designed for saltwater aquariums and can measure salinity up to 70.00 ppt. The robust waterproof tester is only 1.8 cm thick, making it extremely ergonomic and comfortable to hold. The HI98319 simplifies things with two buttons, one for ON/OFF and the other for calibration.

The salinity tester is equipped with a large multi-level LCD screen that displays ppt, PSU, or density and temperature. The temperature can be set to display in °C or °F. An external temperature sensor allows for quick measurements with automatic temperature compensation. The LCD screen has stability indicators and a calibration indication. A battery percentage level indicator is displayed at startup to alert the user of the remaining battery charge.

The salinity readings are taken by a graphite amperometric probe that resists oxidation, providing accurate and repeatable measurements. The use of graphite also reduces the polarization effect common in testers using two stainless steel pins.

Calibration is performed by pressing the calibration button. Once in calibration mode, the tester is immersed in the 35.00 ppt calibration standard. When the standard value is recognized and stability is achieved, the instrument automatically accepts and stores the value.

The configuration options include an adjustable automatic shutdown where the meter can be set to turn off after 8 minutes, 60 minutes, or be disabled. To enter configuration mode, the user presses a button located in the battery compartment.

The waterproof salinity tester HI98319 provides a simple, accurate, and cost-effective way to determine the salt concentration in saltwater aquariums.

Characteristics

- Salinity of seawater through conductivity -All salinity measurements are displayed on the large multi-level LCD screen and are calculated using conductivity measurements based on known tables, including international oceanographic tables for ppt readings.

- Choice of units of measurement -Display the results in parts per thousand (ppt), in practical salinity units (PSU), or in density (SG).

- Automatic temperature compensation -Conductivity measurements are very sensitive to temperature changes. The HI98319 features an external temperature sensor for quick measurement of temperature-compensated salinity.

- Graphite sensor - It reduces the polarization effects common to stainless steel testers and does not oxidize, allowing for reliable and accurate readings.

- Automatic calibration - The 35.00 ppt solution is used both for calibration and for automatic recognition when the instrument is in calibration mode.

- Automatic shutdown - Selectable between 8 minutes, 60 minutes, and off.

- Long-lasting batteries - Approximately 100 hours of continuous use

- Plastic boxThe HI98319 comes complete with an instrument and 35.00 ppt calibration sachets, all in a durable plastic case.
