The Pavona maldivensis orange is an exceptional SPS coral distinguished by its growth in massive structures and its intense orange hue. Unlike plate-forming Pavona, it develops a thicker and more branched morphology, adding a unique dimension to the reef aquarium.
A robust and fast-growing coral
This Pavona maldivensis is appreciated for its rapid growth and high tolerance to moderate variations in water parameters. It is ideal for reef aquarists looking to introduce a structural and bright coral without requiring demanding maintenance.
Ideal conditions for vibrant color
Lighting and flow
To maintain its bright orange color and promote even growth, moderate to strong lighting is recommended, with an intensity of about 200-250 PAR. Medium to strong water flow is necessary to prevent sediment accumulation and ensure optimal tissue oxygenation.
Water parameters
Like all SPS corals, the Pavona maldivensis orange requires stable and well-balanced water:
- Temperature: 24-26°C
- Salinity: 35 ppt (1.025)
- pH: 8.0 - 8.4
- KH: 7-10 dKH
- Calcium: 400-450 ppm
- Magnesium: 1250-1350 ppm
- Nitrates: between 2 and 10 mg/L for optimal coloration
- Phosphates: between 0.02 and 0.08 mg/L
