Alder Cones Hobby are black alder cones carefully harvested from preserved natural areas. Used in aquariums, they help recreate conditions similar to natural biotopes while providing numerous benefits to fish, shrimp, and invertebrates.

Description

Rich in humic substances and tannins, alder cones gradually release their active ingredients into the water. Humic substances promote the growth of aquatic plants by naturally providing nitrogen, phosphorus, and sulfur, while slightly lowering the pH and giving the water a natural and clear tint typical of blackwater environments.

The tannins present in the cones naturally inhibit the development of unwanted bacteria and fungal spores. This gentle action is particularly appreciated during breeding phases, as it limits the development of fungi on the eggs.

Alder cones also play a nutritional and behavioral role. After hatching, fry find infusoria in the cones, serving as an initial food source. Shrimps, crabs, and bottom-dwelling fish also use the cones as a dietary supplement, grazing support, or hiding place.

Usage

Place the cones directly in the aquarium, at a rate of one cone per 10 to 20 liters of water. The cones sink within minutes and quickly release their active ingredients.

Replace the cones every two to three weeks. The old cones can be left in the aquarium as food for shrimps and crabs or removed as needed.
