The Safety Connector Tunze 6105.500 is a safety device that allows automatic power supply to your Tunze pumps from a battery or any other direct current source in case of a power outage. This system ensures the continuity of the aquarium's water movement during a power failure, thus preventing the risk of asphyxiation or biological imbalance.

Operation

The Safety Connector is placed between the pump and the TUNZE® mains power supply. Under normal operation, the pump is powered by the mains. In the event of a power outage, the Safety Connector automatically switches to the backup power source (battery or cells). As soon as the power returns, it switches back to the main power supply.

Precautions and Recommendations

• Do not use a car battery indoors (risk of explosion due to hydrogen).
• Batteries or accumulators must be chosen according to the desired operating time.
• Product is only compatible with TUNZE® electronic pumps, not suitable for other brands.

Examples of Use

• 2 x Stream 3: about 2 A at 24 V or 1 A at 12 V – a 20 Ah battery provides about 20 hours of operation (8,000 l/h).
• 2 x 6040: about 1 A at 12 V – a 10 Ah battery lasts about 10 hours, 20 Ah about 20 hours (4,500 l/h).
• Possibility to use professional 6 V saline batteries connected in series (2 x 6 V = 12 V) for approximately 6 hours of operation.

Recommended Use

Maintaining water movement is essential in the event of a blackout. Lighting, heating, and filtration (except biological filtration) are not priorities during a power outage. The Safety Connector thus allows the preservation of oxygenation and water circulation in the tank, ensuring the survival of living organisms until the power is restored.
