Presentation and principle

Composed of two separate containers, the BASE ELEMENT solution effectively replaces a classic Balling method, while saving the use of a dosing pump head. It allows users of the NWC protocol to perform their complete dosages with a simple 4-channel dosing pump.

Unlike competing solutions, BASE ELEMENT contains no added trace elements, thereby ensuring precise control of inputs in your reef aquarium.

Functioning and ionic balance

The two solutions work together to maintain a perfect balance:

  • Solution A maintains calcium and magnesium.
  • Solution B maintains the KH and balances the major ions in the water.

The two components are designed to be dosed in equal parts in a standard reef aquarium. Custom adjustments may be necessary depending on the consumption of each tank.

Maintenance of parameters and salinity

Like a classic Balling method, the use of BASE ELEMENT causes a slight increase in salinity. In most aquariums, this rise is naturally offset by the water extracted by the skimmer. In aquariums with high consumption, it may be necessary to periodically remove some seawater and replace it with osmosis water.

The product also compensates for the gradual loss of elements such as sulfur and potassium, ensuring a balanced maintenance of the chemical composition over the long term.

Storage precautions

Solution B, which is highly concentrated in KH, should be stored at room temperature. In the event of crystallization due to cold, simply allow the container to return to temperature or place it in a water bath for a few minutes. If the area is unheated, dilute the solution by half (for example, 5 L of solution B + 5 L of osmosis water) to prevent any crystallization.
