Cartridges and Refills, Maintaining the Efficiency of Reef Systems

Cartridges and refills include consumable media intended for reef equipment: mechanical filters, absorbers (phosphates, silicates), ion exchange resins, activated carbon, or roller filter refills. Their main advantage is ensuring consistent performance by replacing saturated media before it releases pollutants.

Historically, filtration used simple masses (foams, perlon) manually replaced. With the evolution of modern reefing and increased stability requirements, specific and calibrated cartridges have emerged, facilitating maintenance and standardizing results.

Regular replacement of refills helps maintain clear water, control nutrients, extend the lifespan of equipment, and secure the biological balance of the reef tank.
