Renew Seachem 1 L – Phosphate-free Filter Media

Renew is a high-porosity active carbon substitute, designed for aquariums where the release of phosphates by traditional carbons is problematic. It is particularly suitable for reef, planted, and marine aquariums, as well as freshwater tanks sensitive to pH variations.

Controlled Organic Filtration

Less aggressive than traditional activated carbon, Renew effectively removes dissolved organic matter and submicron particles while retaining some beneficial compounds for fish, corals, and plants.

It also helps control ammonia, nitrates, and phosphates without causing system imbalance.

Recommended Use

Renew is used just like traditional activated carbon. It is ideal in tanks where effective organic filtration is desired without excessive removal of beneficial compounds.

Dosage and Setup

Use 250 ml of Renew for 120 to 160 L of water.

For optimal efficiency, place the media in a high water flow area, ideally in a suitable filter bag.

Although Renew is clean, a preliminary rinse is recommended before use.

Its effectiveness duration is comparable to that of activated carbon, approximately 4 to 6 weeks depending on the tank's organic load.

Compatibility and Alternatives

Renew can partially remove some medications and proteins. For more aggressive medication removal, a media like MatrixCarbon is preferable.

For targeted heavy metals and copper removal, the use of CupriSorb is recommended.
