Purigen Seachem 1 L – Macroporous Organic Resin

Purigen is a unique macroporous synthetic polymer designed to adsorb soluble and insoluble organic waste responsible for water quality degradation. Its adsorption capacity far exceeds that of conventional filter media.

Key Points

Extremely high organic removal capacity.

Helps control ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates.

Very limited impact on trace elements.

Significantly improves water clarity.

Increases redox potential.

Durable and fully regenerable resin.

Operating Principle

Unlike conventional ion exchange resins, Purigen specifically targets nitrogenous organic waste from fish, corals, and plants. It largely ignores simple elements, helping to maintain the tank's chemical balance.

Its macroporous spherical structure offers a very high active surface area, significantly greater than that of traditional smooth resins.

Installation and Compatibility

Rinse before use.

Use in a fine mesh filter bag of 180 microns or less.

Place in a high-flow area for maximum efficiency.

Compatible with external filters, cartridge filters, media chambers, and trickle filters.

Treatment Capacity

Each 250 ml of Purigen treats up to 1,000 liters of water. The 1 L format can, therefore, treat up to 4,000 liters depending on organic load, for a duration of up to six months. Exhaustion is indicated by a progressive darkening of the beads.

Regeneration

Purigen is fully regenerable by soaking in a bleach solution, followed by complete neutralization with a dechlorinator. This process destroys adsorbed organic matter and restores the media's initial capacity.

Do not reuse if a chlorine smell is detectable after regeneration.
