PhosGuard is an aluminum oxide-based adsorbent media, specially formulated to effectively remove phosphates and silicates responsible for the proliferation of unwanted algae.
It acts quickly, without leaching, thanks to an irreversible binding of the targeted compounds.
PhosGuard is presented in the form of highly porous spherical beads, ensuring optimal hydrodynamics and excellent water flow through the media.
This structure maximizes contact surface and improves adsorption efficiency, both in reef aquariums and freshwater.
Effectively removes phosphates and silicates.
Irreversible binding, no leaching.
Spherical beads for optimal circulation.
Very high porosity for maximum efficiency.
Usable in marine and freshwater aquariums.
Inert media, no ion exchange.
PhosGuard is particularly effective in marine aquariums, where managing phosphates and silicates is essential. It can also be used in freshwater, provided it is not phosphate-buffered.
It is used in small quantities, renewed regularly, which is preferable to occasional use of large quantities.
Before use, pre-wet PhosGuard by adding it to a double volume of freshwater, then rinse thoroughly.
Place the media in a high-flow area, without excessive movement, ideally in a media chamber, external filter, or trickle filter.
Use 85 ml of PhosGuard for 200 L of saltwater or 400 L of freshwater.
Let it act for about 4 days, then test phosphate or silicate concentrations. Replace the media if levels have not dropped below 0.02 mg/L.
A too rapid drop in phosphate levels can cause temporary stress to corals. It is recommended to gradually adjust the quantities used.
PhosGuard does not regenerate and must be replaced once saturated.
Volume: 4 liters.
Other sizes available according to the Seachem range.
