Like most dwarf angelfish, the Centropyge flavicauda can be territorial, especially with its conspecifics or other fish of similar shape and size. It is lively and active throughout the day and prefers areas with many hiding places.
Although it is considered reef-safe with caution, it may occasionally nip at some coral polyps, particularly if its diet is not sufficiently rich and varied.
