The Centropyge loriculus, also known as the flaming angelfish, is one of the most beautiful dwarf angelfish available for reef aquariums. Native to the Pacific Ocean, it features a bright orange to red oval-shaped body with black vertical stripes and a blue edging on the dorsal and anal fins. This intense coloration makes it a true living jewel.
Growing up to 15 cm as an adult, this flaming angelfish has remarkable longevity. Some individuals can live over 20 years in captivity, provided their essential needs are met.
The Centropyge loriculus is generally peaceful and fits well in a community aquarium. It can coexist with other non-aggressive fish and is not very territorial in a suitably sized environment. It is an species rarely interested in coral polyps, making it compatible with reef aquariums.
It appreciates an environment rich in hiding places: live rocks, caves, crevices in the decor... This setting allows it to express itself naturally and shelter in case of stress.
Omnivorous, the flaming angelfish is not demanding when it comes to nutrition. It accepts a wide range of foods: brine shrimp, krill, mussel meat, fresh or dried algae, marine pellets. A diverse diet ensures good health and vibrant coloration.
