The Colombo Ammonia Test allows you to accurately measure the concentration of ammonia (NH3) in freshwater aquariums and garden ponds. Ammonia is one of the most toxic compounds for fish and must be closely monitored, especially when starting an aquarium or after introducing new inhabitants.
Thanks to its high sensitivity, this drop test detects even very low concentrations of ammonia, ensuring reliable control and optimal safety for fish and aquatic plants.
Ammonia is produced by fish waste, leftover food, and the decomposition of organic materials. Even in small doses, it can cause stress, gill burns, and lead to fish death. Regular monitoring of NH3 is essential to maintain a healthy and stable aquatic environment.
The NH3 value corresponds to the closest color observed on the chart. It is recommended to take the reading under indirect light, looking at the test tube from above.
The ammonia test is highly recommended when starting an aquarium, after a significant water change, overfeeding, or the introduction of new fish. In a stabilized aquarium, a monthly check is generally sufficient.
