Boraras maculatus is a species of fish from the Cyprinidae family, native to Southeast Asia. It is also known as the spotted rasbora or dwarf rasbora.
The spotted rasbora has an elongated and laterally compressed body, with a bifurcated caudal fin and moderately developed pectoral and pelvic fins. Its color ranges from orange-red to dark red, with irregular spots and stripes along its body. Adult specimens can reach a length of 5 cm.
The spotted rasbora is generally found in the rivers and streams of Southeast Asia, where it primarily feeds on small crustaceans and insects. It is also known to feed on plants and small fish.
