Reef Iodide – 100 ml Seachem – Stabilized iodide for reef aquariums

Reef Iodide is a concentrated liquid supplement based on stabilized potassium iodide, designed to restore and maintain iodide levels close to those of natural seawater.

Iodide is an essential element for many invertebrates and soft corals such as gorgonians and sarcophytons. It plays an important role in tissue growth and the metabolism of reef organisms.

Why use Reef Iodide

Unlike free iodine or Lugol's solutions, Reef Iodide exclusively provides iodide in a stabilized form that does not convert to toxic iodine or unusable iodate.

This formulation ensures complete bioavailability and maximum safety for corals and reef invertebrates.

Main Features

Function: supply and maintenance of iodide.

Type: stabilized liquid supplement.

Concentration: 8000 mg / L.

Form: complexed potassium iodide.

Safe for soft corals and invertebrates.

Does not convert to toxic free iodine.

Available Sizes

100 ml, 250 ml, 500 ml, 2 L.

Usage Instructions

Beginner: add 5 ml per 200 L of water every two days.

Advanced: add 1 ml per 80 L daily to increase iodide by 0.10 mg / L.

Adjust the dose to achieve a concentration between 0.06 and 0.08 mg / L measured 6 to 12 hours after the last addition.

Expert Use

After determining the actual consumption of the tank, Reef Iodide can be added via a continuous drip system.

Calculation formula: m = 0.125 × v × i (m in ml, v volume in liters, i desired increase in mg / L).

Important Information

It is normal for iodide levels to decrease after a few days due to biological usage and chemical depletion.

The frequency and amount of addition may vary according to the tank's population.

Recommendations

Regularly test iodide using a suitable test kit.

Natural seawater contains approximately 0.06 mg / L of iodine, but some corals and crustaceans may benefit from slightly higher levels.

FAQ

Reef Iodide contains no free iodine and is not a Lugol's solution.

Lugol's solution is a highly toxic medical disinfectant, unsuitable for continuous reef use.

Reef Iodide remains in a stable and fully bioavailable iodide form in the aquarium.
