aquavitro balance™ is a solution designed to correct a low pH in reef aquariums without altering calcium or alkalinity levels.

The product specifically targets the carbonate and bicarbonate ratio, a key parameter of the seawater buffering system, which is often unbalanced in reef aquariums.

Buffer System Imbalance

In many reef aquariums, it is common to observe a low pH while calcium and alkalinity are within optimal ranges. A direct increase in alkalinity can then cause a decrease in calcium.

This phenomenon is generally linked to an incorrect carbonate and bicarbonate ratio, naturally modified by the action of organic acids from biological waste or certain maintenance products.

Specific Action on Carbonate Ratio

aquavitro balance™ resets this ratio by converting bicarbonate into carbonate. This action allows for the restoration of a higher pH without causing variations in calcium or alkalinity.

This approach avoids the seesaw effect observed with conventional buffers, where adjusting one parameter leads to the imbalance of others.

Formulation and Ionic Balance

balance™ is formulated from an optimized blend of sodium and potassium hydroxides, maintaining a ratio identical to that of natural seawater, with a proportion of 27 to 1.

This ratio helps prevent any ionic imbalance with regular and prolonged use.

Integration into Reef pH Management

aquavitro balance™ is integrated into a comprehensive approach to pH management in reef aquariums. It can be used when the pH remains low despite correct values of calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium.

Other solutions can be considered depending on the cause of the imbalance, particularly when magnesium is insufficient or when the overall buffering capacity is too low.
