Lima scabra – Flame Scallop for Reef Aquarium
Lima scabra, also known as the flame scallop, is a bivalve mollusk with a particularly decorative bright red mantle. Native to shallow reef areas, it is appreciated for its ability to naturally filter the water in reef aquariums.
Effective Filtration and Unique Behavior
This bivalve uses the water current passing between its two rough valves to capture suspended particles, microalgae, and phytoplankton. In some geographic areas, it even emits a bioluminescent light to attract micro prey. It is a passive and visually stunning catcher.
Installation in the Aquarium
Lima scabra thrives in calm and shaded areas of the aquarium, between live rocks or on a gravel substrate. Very fine sand is not recommended. It is compatible with hermit crabs and peaceful invertebrates.
Maintenance Conditions
- Recommended minimum volume: 200 liters
- Temperature: 23°C to 27°C
- pH: 8.0 to 8.4
- Decor: calm areas with rocks or gravel, avoid fine sand

Magnifique
Tout simplement magnifique une belle pièce, je m'attendais à un tout petit coquillage, il est vraiment de belle taille, couleur magnifique Il n'a pas apprécié l'endroit où je l'avais mis, un petit jet d'eau plus tard il s'est installé entre deux pierres vivantes Je le conseille fortement même si je n'ai pas pu encore observer les éclairs bleus. Et coté transport et acclimatation parfois même en hivers, réception en super état
