The Balling method, developed by Hans-Werner Balling, is based on the addition of calcium and alkalinity using calcium chloride and sodium bicarbonate. These additions lead to a long-term accumulation of sodium chloride in the aquarium.
PREIS Mineral Salt Balling 3 is a marine salt without sodium chloride, composed exclusively of trace elements and minerals, designed to compensate for this ionic imbalance and maintain the chemical stability of seawater.
Compensation for ionic imbalance.
Maintenance of the natural composition of seawater.
Supply of essential trace elements.
Use in conjunction with CaCl2 and NaHCO3.
The three Preis salts are separately dissolved in 2 liters of osmosis water:
| Calcium chloride dihydrate | 144 g per 2 L |
|---|---|
| Sodium bicarbonate | 163.8 g per 2 L |
| Mineral salt Preis | 48.75 g per 2 L |
For a 100-liter aquarium, the initial recommended dose is 50 ml per day of each solution. The three solutions should be poured into different parts of the aquarium, in well-circulated areas. The use of dosing pumps is recommended.
Calcium and KH parameters should be checked daily at the start. Values should change slowly, without exceeding an increase of 10% compared to the initial values.
Once the target parameters are reached, a weekly dosage is usually sufficient. However, the dosage should be adjusted based on the actual consumption of the tank, the growth of corals, water changes, evaporation, or the introduction of new animals.
Salinity should be regularly checked. Depending on the amount of mineral salt added, the amount of marine salt used during water changes can be reduced.
