A concentration of phosphates that is too high in water can lead to slow growth of corals and of the plants aquatic life, as well as undesirable algae growth. Therefore, it is essential to regularly monitor phosphate levels to keep them within a range suitable for the aquarium's organisms.
In reef aquariums, the optimal phosphate range is between 0.03 and 0.1 mg/L. When this concentration increases significantly, a rapid reduction may be necessary to return to the recommended values.
Tropic Marin Elimi-Phos Rapid is a highly effective lanthanum-based solution capable of quickly binding phosphates and removing them from the water. This action allows for a rapid reduction of high phosphate concentrations.
The concentration of phosphates can thus be reduced to values between 0.2 and 0.4 mg/L in a very short time.
The product is suitable for freshwater and saltwater aquariums.
| Characteristic | Description |
|---|---|
| Speed of action | Particularly rapid reduction of high phosphate levels |
| Active ingredient | Lanthanum-based solution |
| Objective | Reduction of phosphate content between 0.2 and 0.4 mg/L |
Measure the phosphate concentration in the aquarium to calculate the necessary amount of product. Adding 1 ml per 100 L of aquarium water can reduce the phosphate concentration to 0.1 mg/L, which corresponds to the recommended maximum daily dose.
Slowly pour Elimi-Phos Rapid into an area with high flow. Administer using a drip with a pump Dispenser is ideal.
Once the target range is reached, it is recommended to continue reducing and stabilizing phosphates using an adsorbent granulate such as Elimi-Phos Longlife.
| Type of aquarium | Recommended content |
|---|---|
| Freshwater | < 0.3–0.5 mg/L |
| Sea water | 0.02–0.15 mg/L |
| Reef aquarium | 0.03–0.1 mg/L |
The reduction of phosphates should ideally be carried out in an aquarium equipped with a mechanical filter with Scavenger in order to effectively eliminate flocculated phosphates.
A too rapid reduction can cause stress in some organisms adapted to high concentrations of phosphates. In this case, stop use for 1 to 2 days, then resume with half the dosage.
Carbonate hardness must be monitored, as a slight decrease can sometimes be observed. If necessary, adjust the carbonate hardness using a suitable buffer.
All organisms need a small amount of phosphates. A concentration of 0.00 mg/L is not recommended, and the product should not be used in excess.
Keep out of reach of children.
The use of Elimi-Phos Rapid can lead to the death of certain flatworms, including Waminoa species, Convolutriloba, and potentially Acropora flatworms. Before using, vacuum as many of these organisms as possible to limit the release of toxic substances.
Anti-phosphate solution designed for rapid correction of high concentrations in freshwater and reef aquariums.
