Tropic Marin Phos-Feed particulate phosphate supply for reef aquarium

Phosphate is an essential nutrient for the metabolism of corals and plays a role in many processes of skeletal and tissue growth. In reef aquariums, its availability is often limited despite high consumption.

In unpolluted natural coral reefs, particulate excretions from fish and plankton provide corals with the necessary phosphate for their development. These particles are easily filtered in the water and directly used by the corals.

Natural and targeted phosphate supply

Tropic Marin Phos-Feed is based on these natural mechanisms of phosphate supply observed in wild reefs. Phosphate is provided in the form of insoluble particles, allowing targeted dosing without continuously increasing the phosphate concentration in the water column.

This approach promotes natural cycles of skeletal growth and vibrant colors, comparable to those observed in intact coral reefs.

Effectiveness of particulate phosphates

Insoluble particulate phosphates are the most effective form for providing this essential nutrient to corals. Recent studies show they are more efficient than dissolved forms for coral growth and maintenance.

Phos-Feed uses an innovative transport mechanism inspired by natural biological principles, ensuring maximum efficiency and precise dosage control.

Product advantages

The product contains insoluble particulate phosphates, halogenated trace elements such as fluoride and bromide, as well as iodide, to replace elements consumed by increased growth of coral algae and corals.

Tropic Marin Phos-Feed and Tropic Marin Phos-Start are the first products to provide phosphate to corals in the form of particles, in a targeted and dosed manner.

Composition

Phosphate minerals in powder form, trace elements such as iodide, fluoride, and bromide, passive ingredient Pro-Reef Sea Salt.

Application

Phos-Feed can be applied at any time of day. However, it is recommended to dose when the lights are off to take advantage of the nocturnal opening of coral polyps. A slight temporary water turbidity is normal and disappears quickly.

Fill half of a container with about 200 ml of osmosis water. Add the calculated amount of Phos-Feed, mix well, then pour the suspension into a high-flow area. Then rinse the container with aquarium water.

Recommended dosage

Start with a daily dosage of 1 ml per 200 L of aquarium water.

If, after four weeks, a phosphate concentration between 0.05 ppm and 0.15 ppm is not reached, increase the dosage to 2 ml per 200 L.

The maximum recommended dosage is 4 ml per 200 L.
