DVH Oolites – Natural Oolitic Sand from the Bahamas

DVH Oolites Real Oolitic Sand from the Bahamas is a natural oolitic sand composed of biogenic calcium carbonate. It naturally forms on the coasts of the Bahamas and serves as a renewable alternative to reef sand.

Main Features

Type Natural oolitic sand
Composition Biogenic calcium carbonate
Origin Bahamas
Grain Shape Smooth and spherical
Usage Marine aquariums, reef aquariums, cichlid tanks, and refugiums
Available Packaging 3.5 kg, 9 kg, and 75 kg Ecobox

Benefits and Usage

The smooth and spherical grains of this oolitic sand provide a suitable substrate for marine and reef aquariums. It has a strong buffering capacity and helps maintain a natural pH of 8.2 without the constant addition of chemicals. According to the manufacturer, 1 kg, or about 1.5 liters, provides over 1 million cm² of surface area for bacteria reducing ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates. The absence of silica also helps limit the growth of diatoms.

Installation Tips

Distribute the sand according to the desired thickness in the tank or refugium. The choice of packaging depends on the volume to cover and the type of project.
