EHEIM Karbon Activated is an adsorbing filter media designed to eliminate dissolved harmful substances in freshwater. Adsorption involves binding pollutants to the media's surface, unlike absorption.
This activated carbon effectively binds chlorine from tap water as well as residues from medications, detergents, pesticides, dyes, and other undesirable chemicals.
EHEIM Karbon Activated is particularly recommended for water clarification during the start-up phase of an aquarium or after a medicinal treatment. Its use should be limited in time, generally to about 4 weeks.
The activated carbon is integrated into a layered filtration, after a mechanical filter media such as EHEIM MECH or MECHpro, and after a biological media like EHEIM SUBSTRATpro. The product is provided with a mesh bag facilitating its placement in the filter.
Binds chlorine and other dissolved chemicals. Recommended for short-term use only. Suitable exclusively for freshwater aquariums.

Adsorbing filter media should only be used for a few weeks. The fixed substances can redissolve over time, necessitating removal or replacement. Adsorption filtration is mainly useful during aquarium start-up or after medication use.
