EHEIM Karbon Activated is an adsorbent filter media designed to eliminate harmful substances dissolved in freshwater. Adsorption involves binding pollutants to the surface of the activated charcoal, unlike absorption.
This activated charcoal effectively binds chlorine from tap water as well as residues of medications, detergents, pesticides, dyes, and other undesirable chemicals. This version comes with a net bag to facilitate its integration into the filter.
EHEIM Karbon Activated is particularly suitable for clarifying water during the initial setup phase of an aquarium or after medication treatment. Its use should be time-limited, generally to about 4 weeks.
The media is used in layered filtration, after a mechanical filter material such as EHEIM MECH or MECHpro, and after a biological material like EHEIM SUBSTRATpro, directly in the provided net bag.
Binds chlorine and other dissolved chemicals. Temporary use recommended. Suitable exclusively for freshwater aquariums.

Adsorbent filter media should only be used for a short period. Substances that are bound can redissolve over time, so regular removal or replacement is necessary. Adsorption filtration is mainly useful during the startup of the aquarium or after medication treatment.
