Elacatinus puncticulatus, nicknamed the redhead goby, is a small, highly decorative reef fish and is peaceful. This goby is characterized by a bright red head contrasting with a translucent body, adorned with black lines, yellow spots, and metallic blue sheen. Each eye is highlighted by two bright yellow bands, giving it an intense and unique look.
Native to the tropical Pacific coast of North America, Elacatinus puncticulatus is a small goby that spends most of its time resting on rocks or nestled between the spines of pencil urchins (Eucidaris thouarsii). This natural behavior allows it to effectively protect itself from predators.
Elacatinus puncticulatus is peaceful, discreet, and very observant. It generally remains visible near its favorite shelter and does not exhibit any aggressive behavior. It is compatible with all invertebrates, corals, and calm fish.
Ideal for nano aquariums or community reef tanks, it thrives in rocky areas with hiding spots or near urchins to mimic its natural behavior.
From Pro Aquatix breeding, these gobies are hand-selected, 100% deformation-free, and accustomed to captive life. Each individual is acclimated to inert feeding before shipment, ensuring easy adaptation and excellent health upon arrival.
It is recommended to feed near its perch, in small quantities, to ensure good assimilation.
Elacatinus puncticulatus is a rare, elegant goby full of personality. It is perfect for those who want a small fish to observe closely, in a calm and well-structured environment.
