Nemateleotris magnifica – Firefish
The Nemateleotris magnifica, also known as the firefish, is a small reef fish with an elongated body whose flamboyant colors are hard to miss. Its color starts with a pearly white at the head, then shifts to bright orange, and finally to intense red at the back of the body. It is easily recognizable by its long erect dorsal fin, which adds to its elegance and unique behavior.
A Peaceful and Graceful Fish
The Nemateleotris magnifica is a peaceful species that appreciates well-structured aquariums, with plenty of rocky hiding places for refuge. Its typical hovering swimming behavior above its refuge offers a hypnotic spectacle. It can live alone, in pairs, or in small groups in suitable volumes.
