Cryptocentrus cinctus – Yellow Goby by Pro Aquatix
Cryptocentrus cinctus, commonly known as the yellow goby, is a highly valued species in reef aquariums for its peaceful behavior, robustness, and especially for its symbiotic relationship with Alpheus shrimp. Its bright color, upright posture at the entrance of its burrow, and its observational movements make it as useful as it is decorative.
An Observant and Endearing Fish
The yellow goby has an intense yellow or slightly golden color, depending on the individual. Its large, very expressive black eyes and slow swimming make it a low-stress and easygoing fish. It generally lives near a burrow shared with a pistol shrimp, creating an iconic duo of the sandy reef.
