Apolemichthys xanthopunctatus, also known as the yellow-spotted angelfish or Goldflake angelfish, is a rare and elegant species originating from the central Pacific. It is highly sought after for its bright yellow body speckled with golden spots, its intense black outline, and its fins edged with electric blue. A true living gem for exceptional reef aquariums.
Although it is raised in mesocosm, this fish is initially not accustomed to inert foods. This is why we perform a complete acclimatization before shipping:
During this period, the fish are kept in optimal reef-quality water, with daily monitoring to ensure they are in full health before departure.
The Goldflake angelfish measures on average between 8 and 12 cm at adulthood. It displays a golden yellow body dotted with darker spots, a black mask around the eyes, and electric blue fin edges. This rare contrast makes it one of the most elegant angelfish available in aquaculture.
Apolemichthys xanthopunctatus is territorial but relatively peaceful. It is best kept alone or with non-aggressive fish, in an aquarium of at least 300 liters. It can be introduced into a reef aquarium with corals, provided its feeding behavior is monitored (especially with certain LPS or clams).
This angelfish requires very stable, richly oxygenated water with moderate flow. It appreciates hiding spots in live rocks and open areas to swim freely.
Apolemichthys xanthopunctatus is a luxury angelfish, with a refined look and unparalleled presence. Thanks to our rigorous acclimatization protocol, you receive a robust, healthy specimen ready to thrive in your reef aquarium.
