Tectus pyramis XL – Large Reef Algae-Eating Snail
The Tectus pyramis XL is a large marine snail, perfect for large-volume reef aquariums. A true algae-eater, it continuously consumes unwanted algae present on glass, live rocks, and substrate. Its robustness and efficiency make it an essential ally for maintaining a clean and balanced aquarium.
An XXL Snail for Large Tanks
With its robust pyramidal shell and XL size, the Tectus pyramis can cover large areas on its own. It is recommended to introduce 1 to 2 individuals per 100 liters in reef tanks, in addition to other detritivores.
Behavior and Compatibility
This natural cleaner is harmless to corals and other aquarium inhabitants, including fish and invertebrates. However, be sure to avoid aquariums containing many hermit crabs, as they may attack its shell.
Important advice: during acclimatization, never place the Tectus pyramis operculum side down, to avoid allowing an air bubble into its shell, which could be fatal for the animal.
