Nom commun Nasarius distortus. Cet escargot est un excellent détritivore, il passe la plupart de son temps enfoui dans le sable et en sort pour dévorer les restes de nourriture que les poissons n'ont pas mangés. Idéal comme détritivore.

Nassarius distortus is a highly valued detritivorous snail among reef aquarists. Thanks to its burrowing behavior, it remains buried in the sand most of the time and emerges as soon as it detects food remnants. This ability makes it an essential cleaner for maintaining good hygiene within the aquarium.
Completely harmless to fish, corals, and other invertebrates, the Nassarius distortus is also amphibious: it can remain active both in water and at the sandy interface. It feeds primarily on uneaten food remains, which reduces the risk of pollution in the tank.
Nassarius distortus is a peaceful snail compatible with all reef aquariums. It can be kept in groups to increase the efficiency of cleaning the substrate. Its activity is mainly nocturnal or triggered by feeding, at which point it becomes visible.
It is common for a recently transported Nassarius distortus to adopt a defensive behavior: it might simulate death by remaining shell upside down with its foot extended. This posture is a temporary survival technique. If the animal does not move within 48 hours, it is recommended to contact us. During this phase, ensure that no opportunistic predators like shrimp or fireworms attack it.
Nassarius distortus is one of the best detritivorous snails to introduce into your aquarium. Silent and discreet, it performs a remarkable job of cleaning organic waste buried in the substrate.
