Phytoplankton & Zooplankton Aquaculture RAH
Live Prey for Aquariums
Phytoplankton: Adding phytoplankton to a reef aquarium is a common practice recognized for its benefits. Phytoplankton is a source of essential nutrients for corals and reef invertebrates and is also responsible for the production of carbon dioxide and oxygen in the aquarium. Additionally, phytoplankton contributes to the stability of the reef by providing refuges for fish and invertebrates at the larval stage.
Artemia Nauplii: Adding artemia nauplii to a reef aquarium is an excellent idea for owners of this type of aquarium. Artemia nauplii are indeed rich in proteins and essential fatty acids, making them ideal for feeding reef fish and invertebrates. Furthermore, artemia nauplii help maintain a good population of microorganisms in the aquarium, which is essential for the health of the reef.
Rotifers: Rotifers are unicellular organisms that live in fresh or marine water. They serve as food for marine fish and invertebrates and are therefore very useful in reef aquariums and reef fish breeding. Rotifers feed on suspended particles in the water and organic debris. They reproduce very quickly and can thus be very useful in maintaining good water quality.
Copepods: (Acartia tonsa and Parvocalanus)
The use of Acartia tonsa and Parvocalanus copepods in reef fish breeding is very important. These two species of copepods have characteristics that make them suitable for this type of breeding.
First of all, Acartia tonsa and Parvocalanus are species that develop rapidly, which allows for maintaining a stable population in breeding. Additionally, these two species are very resilient and tolerate significant stress conditions, making them suitable for confined breeding environments. Finally, Acartia tonsa and Parvocalanus are species that feed on various kinds of microalgae, allowing them to feed even in times of food scarcity. These characteristics make Acartia tonsa and Parvocalanus copepods very useful species in reef fish breeding.
